ABOUT ALLEN
Helping People Connect Across Cultures
For most of my life, I’ve been fascinated by how people live, think, and connect across cultures.
Travel, language, service, and conversations with people from around the world have taught me something simple but powerful:
many misunderstandings aren’t about bad intentions—they’re about different cultural expectations.
That realization led me to focus deeply on Cultural Intelligence (CQ)—the capability to work and relate effectively across cultures. Research across more than 150 countries shows that people with higher CQ navigate diverse situations with greater trust, better decision-making, and stronger relationships.
Today, I help individuals and organizations build those capabilities so they can connect with confidence wherever they are.
My WorkÂ
Through Culture-Ready, I design seminars, courses, and coaching experiences that help people understand cultural patterns and adapt effectively.
My work centers on four practical capabilities:
-
Centered (CQ Drive) — Clarifying motivation and purpose in cross-cultural experiences
-
Curious (CQ Knowledge) — Understanding cultural patterns, values, and systems
-
Considerate (CQ Strategy) — Planning and interpreting cultural situations wisely
-
Confident (CQ Action) — Adapting behavior and communication effectively
These capabilities help people move from confusion to understanding—and from hesitation to confident engagement.
Who I Work With
My programs serve people in many different cross-cultural settings, including:
-
Missionaries preparing to serve abroad
-
Returned missionaries navigating reintegration
-
Professionals working across global teams
-
Travelers and heritage explorers seeking deeper understanding
-
Students learning to see culture in everyday life
Whether someone is preparing for a new country, leading a multicultural team, or reflecting on a meaningful cross-cultural experience, the goal is the same: greater understanding and stronger human connection.
Why This Matters to Me
Culture shapes how we communicate, lead, build trust, and solve problems.
When we misunderstand those differences, relationships become harder than they need to be.
When we learn to recognize them, doors open—to deeper relationships, more effective service, and wiser leadership.
Helping people see those patterns—and navigate them well—is the work I care about most.
A Personal Note
Some of my favorite experiences come from sitting down with people from different backgrounds and simply listening to their stories.
That curiosity has shaped much of my work—from teaching cultural frameworks to interviewing people from around the world on my podcast.
Because the more we understand one another, the more capable we become of building a world that works together.
